ZVC Colors Shine Bright at the VOS

ZVC Represents in Arizona

This past weekend was the Valley of the Sun Stage Race in Phoenix, AZ. The Valley of the Sun bike race is a three-day event in which professional and amateur road racing cyclists of different categories compete for cash and prizes.  A stage is held each day consisting of a time trial, a road race and a criterium.

There are over 800 participants in 23 categories of professional and amateur riders, both men and women, ages 10 to over 60. The cyclists that have the lowest cumulative time from the three stages will win in their respective categories.

Zia racers that participated included, Greg Albright, Marcel Berger, Tamatha Brock, Jerry Garcia, and Al Senft. ZiaVelo cyclists included, Michael Barrow and Kevin Quattlebaum. At her first ever road race, Tamatha finished with an impressive 3rd in general classification and only five seconds behind 2nd place, with a 3rd place finish in the TT, 7th place in the road race, and 5th in the crit with some steep competition and many lessons learned. Al finished 4th in the TT race and due to a strong team effort by Jerry, Al was able to finish the road race in 8th place holding on to his general classification 4th place finish in very competitive class of 48 racers. Jerry finished 5th in the crit and earned an impressive 11th place overall. Marcel had a strong 15th overall finish in Cat 2 in a field of 72 competitors, even after a flat in the road race and going down in the crit. (Note: He is alright and will live to race the next one.) Greg, Kevin, and Michael also worked hard to represent ZV well with great efforts the entire weekend. The ZV colors shined bright in the Phoenix desert and are anxiously awaiting to race the Trifecta coming up March 5-6 in Las Cruces (LCTT_Hillsboro_Trifecta_2016_rev ACW)!!!
