Many ZVC racers are still out racing in full force with plenty of racing to be had! On July 8, the Spokettes hosted the 2018 Annual Women’s Time Trial race in Algodones, NM with over 70 racers. ZVC Zia racers, Tamatha Risner participated, coming in 2nd overall, and Kathy Alvarez won her age group and came in 5th overall. We also had a few racers participate in the Double Eagle Time Trial series, first of three races in the series, on Sunday, July 15. Zia racer, Al Senft won the overall men’s and age group. Kathy Alvarez won her age group and was second overall. Velo racers, David Hughes was third in age group, Zach Taraschi was second in age group. Congrats racers!

This past weekend we had racers racing both off and on the road, some finding the podium at the Oak Flats mountain bike race. Josh Barnett finished with a strong 7th place in a stacked field of Pro and Cat 1 racers. Jerry Garcia won his Cat 1 age group. Tamatha Risner was 3rd overall Pro/Cat 1 and 1st in age group. Phil Simpson finished 5th in his Cat 1 age group. Amy Coor won the Cat 2 overall and age group. David Coor finished 3rd in the single speed category.

Competing on the National level, Al Senft raced the USA Cycling Amateur Road National Championships in Hagerstown, MD and the Emrick Boulevard Criterium in Bethlehem Township, PA. Although he got caught behind a crash in the road race, Friday, and did not finish as planned, he had an amazing 5th place finish in the 35+ criterium in a stacked field of 58 competitors.
