This year, three junior riders are proud to be riding for ZiaVelo Cycling. Kenya Leahy(16), Jakob Saari(16) and Uriel Gelbart(17) are three high school students from Aldo Leopold Charter School. They started the year racing the Tommy Knocker 10 to a first-place finish, then they raced 12 Hours in the Wild West to the top of the Podium. Uriel raced and finished the Tour of the Gila. They will be racing Albuquerque Mountain Bike Festival and Arizona Dusk to Dawn this year as well. If all goes well, they have a chance of being the ZiaRides Race Series Champs in Junior Team Open Class. They will also be helping out with course preparations and food service at the Signal Peak Challenge, as well as racing in it. They are proud to be part of such a great group of riders that is ZiaVelo and look forward to what the future brings.
They also race with the Aldo Leopold Charter School mountain bike team in the Arizona Interscholastic Cycling League. This year the League will have over 1,100 high school and middle school racers in it that is a five-race series that starts September 9 and finishes November 4 with the State Championship. They are always talking with their friends in an effort to get more juniors on bikes.
